We are a group of people who gather to learn from the Bible, pray & seek to live out the good news of Jesus, in the community of Redfern.

A history on our church.

THE Church began…

Indigenous Christian ministry also has a long history in Redfern, however Living Water Church was planted by Evangelism and New Churches in 2014. The pastor at the time was Matt Paterson and our first service was held in the Redfern Oval Community Room.

the church grew…

As we grew relationships in the community, new initiatives and activities began through Living Water. We met in locations including the Settlement Hall until we found our “home” at 587 Elizabeth Street. We began a local youth group, women’s Bible study group (Yarn Up), park hang-outs and a thriving kids’ ministry that shared the love of Jesus; ministries that are still active today.

our vision today…

Our goal is to see more and more people in Redfern meet Jesus and know His love for them. There are three goals we are focusing on for the future of Living Water:

  • the local community and to share the good news of Jesus and how a relationship with him changes lives.

  • Indigenous and non-Indigenous Christians serving in partnership in all areas of our church life.

  • of Indigenous Christians raised and equipped to lead churches and reach First Nations people with the good news of Jesus.
